HOW THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE WORKS
In America, Presidential Elections Actually Take Place in Two Phases
Though it commonly is thought that we hold one national election every four years. In fact, we hold 51 popular elections every presidential election year. There is an election in each state and one in Washington DC. Another fact that is not often known is that every presidential election is done in parts.
PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION – PHASE ONE
Perhaps, when you voted in November 2012, you believed you voted for Barack Obama or Mitt Romney. You may have thought that, in November, 2016, you believed you voted for Donald J. Trump or Hillary Clinton. In reality, when you cast your vote, you actually voted for your state’s slate of presidential electors. If you voted for Donald J. Trump, in November of 2016, you voted for your state’s Republican Electors.
PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION – PART TWO
Part two of the presidential election process is held in December, of every presidential election year. The December election takes place, when every state’s electors gather together to cast their votes for the winner of their state’s election. Altogether, there are 538 electors. It is not the November election, which really decides the identity of the next president. At least 270 votes are needed to win the presidency.
HERE IS WHY THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE IS NEEDED
THE ELECTORAL COLLEGES FORCES CANDIDATES TO REACH OUT TO ALL AMERICANS
One reason why the Electoral College so important is because the system encourages coalition building and national campaigning in order to win. A candidate must also reach out to many different types of voters, from various parts of the country. Because winning the electors of each state is necessary to win the presidency. Winning only in the South or in the Midwest is not good enough to win the required 270 electoral votes.
If the Electoral College did not exist, and if winning was only about winning the most popular votes, a candidate could concentrate all of their efforts on the biggest cities or the states with the most residents, such as California or New York. Using the popular vote, for the presidency, would remove a candidate’s need of campaigning in states, like Alaska, Iowa or Montana. The candidates for president would not need to care what those voters think about their issues or their ability to be president.
Many people think that the election is really only about the swing States. In fact, swing states are constantly changing. As recently as the 1980’s, California was strongly Republican voting or red state. Not long ago, Texas voted strongly Democrat. Also, New Hampshire nor Virginia were never considered to be swing States, not long ago, in the past.
Many feel that George W. Bush won, in 2000, strictly because of Florida. Actually, he won the election because he flipped West Virginia, which was totally considered to be a safe democrat state and because Al Gore failed to win his own state, of Tennessee. These are good examples of how vital it is to have the Electoral College. Individual states turned out to be highly important and not just large states, like California and New York.
The electoral votes turned out to be decisive in the 2016 presidential election as well. Hillary Clinton failed to visit Wisconsin and Michigan because she considered them safe states, for her campaign. She ended up losing those typically safe Democrat-voting states.
No political party can ignore any state for too long, without suffering the consequences. Because of the Electoral College, every state and every voter, in every state, is important.
THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE HELPS KEEP PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS FAIR AND CLEAN
The Electoral College also makes it harder to steal election votes. It makes it necessary to steal votes, in the right state, in order to change the outcome of the Electoral College because there are so many swing States. This is hard to predict and hard to do. However, without the Electoral College, any of those votes stolen, in any Precinct, in the country, could affect the national outcome, even if that vote was easily stolen in The bluest, California Precinct or the reddest Texas one.
The Electoral College Is an ingenious method of selecting a president for a great diverse republic, such as our own. It protects against the tyranny of the majority because it encourages Coalition building and discourages voter fraud. Our Founders were proud of it. We can be too.
Be accountable to the people. He governs we have an old the oldest successful system for doing that and power-hungry Democrat-Socialists want to change that.
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
HERE IS WHY PACKING THE SUPREME COURT AND ABOLISHING THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE MUST NEVER HAPPEN
The Democrat-Socialists want to pack the Supreme Court so they can promote and enact, into law, their agenda far beyond their Socialist economic agenda. They also want a clear and free path to pass and have their social and cultural agenda upheld in a high court that is stacked with their philosophical allies.
The Democrat Socialists know the voters will not allow them to make their Socialist agenda as a permanent and empowered part of American life and law without having a Supreme Court that will rubberstamp everything thing they do.
If Joe Biden and Kamala Harris win the White House, and, if the Democrat-Socialists when majorities in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, every American will have placed themselves in profound and certain danger of losing the America that we know and love.
Therefore, packing the Supreme Court and ending the Electoral College effectively rips the future of our nation, our lives and our futures, from our hands. We will never be able to say, “In America, the people rule,” in any manner other than just a catch phrase. That is the greatest danger of all, for every single American.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris refuse to tell us what they plan on doing, if elected, concerning packing the Supreme Court. Biden is even on record, as saying, that the American people do not have the right to know what he and Kamala Harris will do. If they refuse to tell us what their treacherous plans are for the nation’s highest court, it behooves all of us to ask, what else are they hiding from us?
Americans are very aware of another country that went down this path, which is, in reality, a slew of despondency. I certainly hope we would never go down that path that, the once rich nation of Venezuela, took. If we do so, on November 3, 2020, we should not expect different result than Venezuela received. In fact, if we choose the path of Socialism, The American people will have committed national suicide, with our eyes wide open.
