Today, Wednesday, October 3, at 2:18 PM ET the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct a nationwide test of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system. This test will assess the operational readiness of a national message and determine if improvements are needed.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct a nationwide test of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system on 10/3/18. This test will assess the operational readiness of a national message and determine if improvements are needed.
Specifics:
- Date: 10/3/18
- Time: The test will start at 2:18 PM ET.
- All active wireless phones should receive the message within 30 minutes from the start time.
- WEA message: “Presidential Alert. This is a test of the Wireless Emergency Alert system. No action is required.”
- The alert will trigger a loud tone, similar to an Amber alert.
